Management and Leadership
Leadership
Tip of the Month by Ron Jasniowski
The key to management is to make
sure the process flows and there is good productivity. The key
to productivity is leadership. And the key to leadership is
motivating and developing employees.
It is important for managers and
supervisors to know there are distinguishable differences
between managers and leaders.
-
Managers manage people, but leaders lead
people and manage tasks.
-
Managers look for the negative in the
workplace and take the positive for granted. Leaders look for
the positive and appreciate and recognize employees.
-
Managers use employees, but leaders care
for and develop the untapped potential in employees.
Because managers have so much on their plate to complete each
day, it is easy to default to management tactics vs. leadership
principles. This week try to make progress on one or two areas
of your leadership style.
Future issues will provide you with
more details on how you can reach the next level of leadership
success.
You
may want to print this and discuss it at your next leadership team
meeting.
