Employee Recognition: Reminders
for Appreciating Employees
Leadership
Tip of the Month by Ron Jasniowski
With the hectic pace we operate in,
it’s hard to remember to take a few moments to catch an employee
doing something right and appreciate them for it. And, all too
often when the thought comes to our mind that this employee did
well, we think, it’s about time and we don’t appreciate them and
reinforce behavior we want repeated.
Try this: start your day with three
large coins (or tokens) in your pocket. The coins are reminders
to look for someone doing something right and recognize them for
it. As you recognize them, put one coin in the other pocket. You should finish the
day with all your coins in the other pocket. If coins don’t work
for you, try Post-it notes.
"Working for low pay and no
recognition is daily misery."
